My Heart is Borken :(

Occupation: Full time Aunt

Job description: Laugh, play, and snuggle with my best buddy all day long, 40-50 hrs a week

Starting day: January 18, 2009- When he was almost 3 months old

Ending day: Today- February 12, 2010- almost 16 months old

Pete and I feel like we’re losing a part of our family. He’s been there every morning to get us out of bed for over a year… He has been the greatest little blessing in our lives so far. I’ve learned SO MUCH from him. He’s for sure prepared me a little more for this next chapter of my life coming soon. I can’t imagine how much I’m going to love my baby girl if I love my nephew this much.

Last night Pete came home from work and my eyes were all swollen red. He asked me what was wrong and I told him I didn’t want to talk about it… finally he got me to squeak out… “Tomorrow is my last day” and then the tears came again and I was balling like a baby.

Sounds so silly I know…

Good news is starting in May he gets to be with his Mom so I am very happy for him! But I’m sure going to miss seeing that guy everyday.

Hey...a "one plus" is better then nothing right?

So guess what? All day Sunday….I mean all day.. I was in pain. Crampy, uncomfortable, painful Braxton hicks from 8:00 am until I fell asleep around midnight. Sorry- I hate to be a whiner but it wore me out. Luckily I made it Monday- Wednesday afternoon with only a few more painful Braxton hicks sporadically. Then Wednesday at around 5:00 they hit full force….even worse this time. All night long…..I tried taking a hott bath, tried just laying there, tried walking them out…not fun. Pete got home from Young Mens at around 9:00 pm and was so sweet to baby me until he fell asleep at around 12:30. After he was asleep I again tried walking them out…I took at bath at 1:30 am…. Nothing brought relief. I finally feel asleep at around 3:00- (plus 2 or 3 bathroom breaks after that). The next morning at 8:00 am Pete says “I’m so glad you slept so well last night- I didn’t hear you get up once!” Funny- I wonder if that’s how it will be when the baby is here. He will sleep through everything… I really didn’t mind though. He needed the sleep. He’s been working his butt of at work…

Anyway- so I had my Dr.’s apt today…Pete couldn’t come so my dear sister Karen came for moral support… and guess what? I’m finally dilated and thinning! Yeah! Okay- so I was only a “one plus” which is pretty much like nothing… I probably will still go all the way to my due date. But knowing that all my painful contractions are paying off makes them WAY MORE bearable. And my doctor saying “I may see you this weekend!” was like the most amazing words every spoken to me…even though they were quickly followed by…” but probably not. I’ll probably just see you next week at your apt”.

I hate to be one of those impatient mothers… I had a friend that went 10 days over (Megan…yes you) and I just talked to her yesterday. I asked her how in the world she did it… “oh it wasn’t bad..I could have waited longer….” I tried to play the “oh yeah…cool” card…but really I was thinking there is NO WAY I’m going to be sane if I even go ONE DAY past the 27th. I am SO HUGE and uncomfortable and in so much pain. I have this huge long “to do” list that I want to get done before the baby comes but whenever I try to do any of it (most of its scrubbing or organizing) the pain comes…so really I just want to lay around and watch the clock….but of course I don’t.

“One plus” is not much. I’ve had friends dilated to a 3 for over two weeks… But then again there is the lady in my ward who said she was a one at her apt and she was back that night with a quick delivery. I have to ignore stories like that or I start staring at the clock/calendar again.
Anyway- What do you people think? Moms? Do you think I still have 16 more days- maybe more? Any advice on dealing with the painful contractions? Am I going to know when they are real contractions and not just Braxton Hicks?

Anyway- blah blah blah- probably nobody will answer those questions because they are at the bottom of this long boring rambling post and people won’t get that far…but whatever.

One more thing- my young women are officially the best of the best. I thought they were wonderful for all coming to my shower…but no… I had no idea how wonderful they truly where. Last night I got a knock at the door at 8:30 to find all my young women with…..drum roll please…..6 yummy frozen dinners they had made for Pete and I. Wonderful! Pete and I will get more cooked meals after the baby is born then we ever did before. Love it. We feel so blessed.

Ward Baby Shower

I love my ward. End of story. From the first day Pete and I moved in- everybody has been so generous to us. We feel so blessed. As many of you know, I’ve been serving in the young women’s for over a year now. So two amazingly sweet ladies in my ward (Wendy and Brittney- thanks again!) decided to throw me a baby shower and invite all the young women and their moms... plus other friends in the ward. It was so much fun!

Showers are always kinda awkward when you're the one being...."showered"- because it’s like…”Hey! Come to my shower and bring me a present!”I haven’t done that since my 5th birthday yeah know? And you feel so blessed and you can’t say thank you enough times to all the people that come and bring you stuff…geez….
Anyway- here are a few pics

As for me- I am as big as weather balloon and very tired all the time. Throughout my whole pregnancy people have been so nice….“hey you sit down and relax..you’re pregnant.” I’ve always felt guilty just relaxing because I really felt fine! But in the last week or so I have never felt so deserving of taking a seat and relaxing. We had a big young women’s dinner last Wednesday and I was there from 5:00-9:00 setting up, decorating, serving, and then taking down. I came home and I thought I was in labor. I was having tons of painful contractions over and over again. But don’t worry… the next day when I went to my check up I found out that I’m not ANYWHERE. Not even a stitch. So…whatever. Yesterday I had another long day of painful Braxton Hicks but I’m not getting excited. The baby will probably just take her sweet time just to drive me crazy.
Really I’m glad for these last 19 days…..19 more days to sleep relatively well. 19 more days to finish the Book of Mormon! I’m still trying to get it done before she comes…I just finished 3rd Nephi- I better hurry. 19 more days I have the option of just going out to a dinner and a movie with Pete. 19 more days to go to the temple! 19 more days of silence in my house… I should just be soaking these last few days up right?
Anyway- blah blah blah….I could go on and on. And I probably will…in my next post... so be ready.
Oh yeah- one more thing! Pete’s parents were so nice to give us some old dressers that had been hanging out in their garage. We washed them up, sanded them, painted them, changed the knobs, and brought them home….not to bad huh? Our cute baby has dressers now! All for under $30. The cheep-wad Ackerman’s have struck again! But not without the help of Pete’s parents and Karen (who helped me paint, sand and pick out knobs)
