Memorial Weekend and Draper Temple Celebration

Pete and I went to Hurricane for Memorial Day weekend with some friends and stayed in a Condo. (Thanks again Jake and Robin for hosting) We had the best weekend. Pete golfed and I got to go summer shopping and lay out by the pool.

Gatta love the pic.... Left to right Hona, Jake, and Pete…

Also- Pete and I have been serving in the Young Men/Young Women for about 6 months now and we have really enjoyed it. I work with the Miamaids and Pete with the Teachers.

For the last few months we have spent every Wednesday having dance and singing practice for the Draper Temple Dedication. The dedication is at the Conference center tonight ! Wednesday I went to the dress rehearsal.... and wow! I’m telling you now I have never seen anything more powerful. There are 7-8 thousand youth involved. Each stake is assigned a time period to do a dance that tells the history of the Draper Valley, starting with the Indians all the way up to a very modern hip-hop dance. Our Stake was assigned to the 20’s.

The power behind that many youth all signing together about how “familys can be together forever” … and “I love to see the temple- I’ll go inside someday” is undescribable. I had goose bumps the whole night. I can’t wait for the real show..... the prophet will even be there to see!

School = Blah

The battle I have with myself everyday…..

Bekah 1-“ Bekah you need to go back to school and get you BS”
Bekah 2- “NO. I hate school. School’s for losers.”

Bekah 1-“You’ll be so glad you did it- and this is the perfect time before you start a family”
Bekah 2- “Well I don’t even know what I want to study, what school to go to, or how I will pay for it”

Bekah 1- “Well figure it out!”
Bekah 2- “Just thinking about the money, homework, tests, and long boring classes makes me want to throw up”

Bekah 1- “Well then study something that gets you excited!”
Bekah 2- “Hmmm………I’m drawing a blank…….”

Bekah 1- “You’ll hate yourself forever if you don’t just DO IT. Education is important!”
Bekah 2- “Oh Education…smmeducation…. “

Yes I know…I’m right…. I need to go back to school……….. blah!
I’ve been telling people that I’m thinking of going back and they say…oh great! What do want to go into? ……………. Silence………….crickets chirping………………

I guess I have a lot of praying to do.

5K in Draper

Pete and I ran our first 5K together!

So the race was a little unorganized and somehow they forgot to put a sign on the trail telling people to turn around…so our 3.1 mile run turned into a 4.1 for me and a 4.5 mile for Pete. Pete did so good I was so impressed!! He got 4th in his age group!

Pete finishing the race
(Thanks again Susan and Cec for coming and cheering us on and being the photographers)

Stead-Ack Attack! My loyal running partner that keeps me going....

Ps- So Karen and I decided to train for the ½ marathon for sure. We are planning on a 10 mile run in Provo in a couple weeks and the big day for the ½ is at the end of July in Bryce Canyon! Stay tuned for the details on those. We did our first 9 mile run today…we only have 4 more to go until we are ready. Exciting!

Happy Mothers Day

"All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother."

Dear Mom: Thank you for supporting me, loving me, forgiving me, laughing with me, crying with me, bending over backwards to help me, trusting me, and most of all for helping me become who I am today.

Mom Memories:
In the 10th grade I called my mom from school to see if she would bring me some socks because I had forgotten to bring an extra pair for my track meet. Only 30 mins later I got called to the office to find my mom had brought me a new bag for track filled with goodies, socks, and a good luck note.
My moms the kind of person that will always go the extra mile to help somebody out no matter what the circumstance.
I love you mom!

Dear Granny: I am so happy you moved to Manti! Thank you for supporting me in all that I do. Making it to every dance performance, pageant, choir concert, piano recital.. .. I am so blessed to have you so close! But most importantly thank you for listening to your heart - because of you I get to have the greatest gift of all…the gospel.

Granny memories: Shortly after my dear Granny moved to Manti I had a piano recital coming up. Only days before the recital I sprained my finger and had decided I was not going to go. Somehow my Granny didn’t get the message and went the the piano recital and sat through the whole thing thinking she was going to hear me play. I felt so bad! But this is a perfect example of my Grannys un-failing support.

Dear Susan: I am so lucky to have you in my life. Thank you for raising 9 wonderful children, one of which I am madly in love with. You are always doing service, service, and more service. You plan a meal for 3 and somehow end up feeding 20 by the end of the day and you magically make it work. You turn your 5 bedroom house into a 4 family home….. you never turn anyone away. You’re such an amazing example to me and I love you to pieces for it.

Susan memory:
A few months ago Pete and I had to take our car in to get serviced so we were carless for the day. Susan was so kind to offer to take Pete to work and then she took me out for a mother-daughter date. We went and looked at home décor and she showed me a lot of cute stores and boutiques I hadn’t seen before. We had so much fun talking and laughing. She was so sweet to take time out of her life to spend a day driving us around and hanging out.

Our Cruise

We’re home from our cruise with sunburns and no swine flu. Be ready for a picture overload. Pete had been on a lot of cruises but this was my first. I was blown away by everything. The ship was massive! It was so beautiful and it could hold every person from my home town. Oh my goodness- I’ve never eaten so much in my life- the food was so delicious. Pete and I got an ocean view room which was cool to just look outside and see nothing but beautiful clear sky’s an ocean.

On Friday we got to Catalina Island.

Pete and I rented some mountain bikes and drove all over the island which was fun- and good exercise, (thank goodness because we had eaten so much). We drove pretty high up the hill and found a beautiful over view of the island.

Next we went snorkeling. These are the most flattering suits I know. Snorkeling was remarkable. There were so many fish! It took me awhile to get warmed up to the idea of breathing underwater and surrounding myself with huge fish swimming at my face…but after I got a hang of it- I loved it.

Friday night we got dressed up and had an amazing dinner back on the cruise ship. After dinner we took a night walk around the ship and danced under the stars- so romantic.

The rest of the cruise we spent on the ship hot tubing, swimming, laying out, miniature golfing, and of course eating.

We had the time of our life and we laughed our heads off the whole time. Pete cracks me up! Here is a pic of Pete and I enjoying our virgin Pina Coladas and trying to look like the other people on the ship. Haha- j/k

As soon as we got home Pete and I stated talking about where we want to go next. Everybody tells us that we need to travel and live it up before we have kids so that’s what the plan is!
