4 months!

Adaliah had her 4 month apt on Friday!
She is…
16.13 pounds- 100th percentile (Making her 11 ounces smaller then my 1 year old niece- so much for the hand-me-down idea.)
26 inches- 100th percentile

Big Girl!

A few things about Adaliah
* Her Hair is getting a little curly. I love Pete’s curly hair..and I would die for her to have it!
* She smiles and laughs all day. She laughs the hardest and loudest when she’s really tired and grouchy. If you can turn her cry into a laugh..she will laugh hysterically.

* She loves her bumbo and her bouncer! She’ll sit and play for 30 mins straight with a huge smile on her face. (I know she doesn’t look happy in this picture but I had to post it to show that her hair is now long enough to put in a clip!)

* Pete’s favorite game is hide and go seek. He hides Adaliah and I go find her as fast as I can because he usually has her in the craziest places. Example:

* She drools SO MUCH. It’s insane…

* We’re getting to the point that we can put her down in her crib while she’s still awake and she’ll put herself to sleep. (This picture is how she sleeps 90% of the time. Thumb in mouth, other arm covering her eyes.) So adorable.

*She does really good on her tummy. She is even starting to tuck her knees under herself and try to wiggle forward to grab her toys. What? Maybe she’ll be crawling in the next few months?
*She is a pro at playing with her toys. She’ll reach for them…grab them..put them in her mouth. If she drops them..she’ll pick it back up… It’s crazy!

* She gets chubbier every day. Sometimes I get pictures like this. I can’t wait to show her when she’s 16+…she’ll love them I’m sure! Ha!

We love our girl! We're actually a little obsessed. We drool over her 24-7. We just can't get enough!

My little Lily Bear!

Okay…she’s not “my” Lily Bear…but I love her like she’s my own. Lily is my niece, and today is her 1st birthday! I just had to do a post on her because I love her SO MUCH!
A little background on Lily

1st - I found out I was pregnant the day she was born. How special huh? Visiting her in the hospital was the perfect way to celebrate the good news. It got Pete and I so excited. Lily was the most beautiful newborn!

2nd - Lily was born with a clubbed foot. This means that for the first few months of her life she was in multiple casts and she had to get her Achilles tendon clipped when she was just a few months old. Then she had to wear a Dinis-Browne Bar to keep her feet positioned correctly. She will continue to wear this to bed until she's 3 or 4 years old.

3rd - At almost 3 months old Lily was diagnosed with Osteogensis Imperfecta, more commonly known as "the brittle bone disease". Basically- her bones break really easy. They found 4 healed fractures in her x- rays. A broken collar bone, two fractures on her shin, and one on a vertebrae in her spine. Luckily she has the most mild case and she hasn’t broken a bone since then. But she will always have to be very careful.

4th- Despite her trials, Lily is the happiest, sweetest little thing on this earth. I just love her to pieces! Adaliah is so lucky to have her as a cousin and I’m so lucky to be her aunt. I can tell she has such sweet little spirit. And I have to give my sister props. She is an AMAZING mother who has handled all of this incredibly well. I don’t know how she does it.

Here is an adorable video of Lily and Adaliah playing. The first of many..I’m sure. Happy birthday Lily! We love you!

Why did I marry Pete?

Last night Pete and I were up late talking about life and we got thinking about how crazy the decision to get married is. When you reach a point in your relationship you can either break up and NEVER talk again….or get married and spend the rest of ETERNTY with each other. Wow- how was I ever brave enough to make that decision? That is HUGE!
Then today I really started thinking about it …. and decided to share my thoughts.
Warning: Cheesy sappy post bragging about my amazing husband.

1st of all- I knew I had to marry Pete. There were so many HUGE signs that it was right. I mean…undeniable… crazy…. blow your mind...kind of sings. That’s a different story all together. Stories that are much too personal to share online…. So moving on….

Did you guys make those “Qualities of a Future Husband” lists in Young Womens? Yeah- so I made like 10 of them by the time I was 16. So sue me. Some of the qualities were very important (like gospel centered man who holds the priesthood) …and some were not so important… (like being at least 6 feet so I could wear high hills around him and still be significantly shorter) .

I can honestly say…I got everything I wanted…down to the last little stupid petty thing.

Examples of big things:

I wanted....

Someone who not only served a mission, but is still a missionary. This is Pete. He’s always sharing the gospel with anyone that will listen.

(Bonus Quality: Pete looks foreign. It’s very sexy. It’s hard to tell which one is the American in this picture of Argentines)

Someone who would not only just take me to the temple to be married, but would take me to the temple consistently. He’s always the one reminding me we need to go.

Someone personable, outgoing, and friendly. Somone who puts themselves out there. I lack this quality- but Pete is teaching me to be better. This was the first thing I noticed about Pete… he knows and loves everyone.

Someone very family oriented. Total Pete. He's always talking about his family, wanting to visit the nieces and nephews, and making sure he spends lots of time with Me and Dali. I Love him.

I wanted to marry someone who made me laugh. Need I say more? I married an Ackerman. He kills me… I could go on for hours about that….

Those are just a few of the big things….and for the petty picky things…

I wanted to marry someone who liked to dance. Pete will probably hate me for posting this…but he is an amazing dancer. We did ballroom together at SUU. He’s probably a better dancer then me.

I wanted to marry someone with good style… Again- a quality I lack…but Pete is helping me. Everything cute I own in my closet is from Pete…meaning he picked it out for me.

Okay- I could go on for hours. Point is- I know I made the right choice. I am a very lucky girl. He is everything I could have ever hoped for + more. So when Pete fell to one knee on the Florida beach at sunset… the biggest decision I would ever make… was by far the easiest.

What's new?

1. I turned 22! We had a fun weekend celebrating.

2. We went on a hike! It was hot outside but we hiked through 2 feet of packed snow for most of it. Hmmm… not ideal… but still fun.

3. Pete and I have been hot tubing/ swimming almost every night after Dali goes down. Our apartment is close enough that we can bring the baby monitor with us. Today we had our friends Erin and Kasey over with their little guy Corbin. Dali got to get her little feet wet.

4. My mom finished Adaliah’s quilt and bed skirt. Isn’t she amazing? She gave me the extra fabric so I made a bow hanger and a couple of wall hangings to go in her room.

5. Adaliah has been talking so much! It’s killing me. And every day she try’s something new with her little voice. Today she likes the high pitched scream.

ps- Dali is sitting on my lap right now watching this video and she is loving it! She's laughing and screaming back to the cute baby on the screen.
6. Pete’s little brother Chris graduated from high school. But I’ll save that for my next post…
