(Pete and I in our team shirts)
Pete and I have been playing on a coed softball team all summer in American Fork. It has been so much fun! I’m sad the season is over. Our team consisted of a bunch of Pete’s work friends and their wives. It’s such a fun group of people!
The end of the season tournament started last Friday and we lost our very first game. It was double elimination so we were still in for the run. Well the week went on and we won the rest of our games. Last night was the final night. Our first game was at 7:00 pm and it was a really close game. We came back at the end and beat them by two points.
Because we won- we played the next team at 8:00 and beat them too! Our third game was at 9:00 against the team that was undefeated in the tournament. We ended up winning that game, but because we were from the loser bracket- we had to play them back to back.
The final game didn’t start until about 10:40 pm and we had just played three games in row. We ordered some pizza to be delivered to the field because we were all starving! Well game 4 began and we were on fire! I guess you can say we were pretty warmed up! By the second inning we thought we could just get the game over with the 20 point rule we were so far ahead. But we ended up playing the whole game and we won by 16 or so.
We got t-shirts and this obnoxiously big trophy. Haha. (sorry this pic is blurry)
By the end of the night our team had hit 5 over the fence home runs! As for me- I went the entire season without striking out. I was so proud of myself. Then the final night comes and for some reason I was doing HORRIBLE! I was striking out left and right! It was so embarrassing! It takes a lot of talent to strike out in slow pitch. Good thing the rest of my team had their game faces on.
It was so fun to watch Pete play and to have an excuse to spend time together! I hope we do this again every summer!
