Family Baby Shower

I had my family baby shower on Saturday! It was so much fun to have everybody together and I feel like I’m way more prepared for our little princess to come. Thanks again Amanda for putting it together and everybody else who came. Pete and I are so grateful for everybody’s love, support, and gifts for our sweet baby. Here are some pics…

My friend Tausha and her new sweet baby Andrea (2 1/2 months old)

So Tausha and I grew up together as next door neighbors. We have been friends since before I can remember. We decided Andrea and my baby are going to be BFF's so we had to take their first picture together....aww how sweet... :)

Barf paranoia improving...

So anyone who knows me well knows that throw up is honestly my biggest fear. I could go on and on about stories that would just blow your mind how paranoid I am. For example- once when I was young my mom threw up in my bathroom and I wouldn’t go in there for honestly two weeks. Also- I HATE amusement parks because I’m afraid I will see somebody throw up…or sit somewhere that somebody once threw up on....
All growing up if somebody even said they were feeling sick to their stomach- I wouldn’t stand close to them and I would start feeling sick to my stomach too. Before I became pregnant I threw up one time in a stretch of like 6 years. I would do ANYTHING to not throw up.

So- everytime I’ve thought about being a mom I have REALLY worried if I would be able to take care/clean up after sick kids! Everybody said “you will love them so much- it wont bother you” But then I married Pete and I love him more than anything in this world- but still the two times he threw up in our marriage I wouldn’t kiss him for 24 hours and I felt sick to my stomach whenever I saw him. He even threw up outside for me last time he was sick so I would use our bathroom… and then I left him home alone because I thought he might throw up again…so rude I know!

Well- the Lord knows what we need to prepare us…and he blessed me with horrible morning sickness. As I said before I probably threw up 50-60 times in 4 months. And of course Pete was nothing but wonderful. Almost every time I was sick he held my hair out of the way…. stroked my back… got me a glass of water...

So in the last few weeks I have read multiple blog posts about sweet mothers having all of their kids be sick at the same time (flu season) and being up all night cleaning up after them, or cleaning out the car after everyone gets sick on a road trip… and I began to panic again! Only a few more weeks and I’m going to be a mother- and that will be MY JOB! AHHH!

So the point of writing this random/ disgusting post is to tell you all..that somewhere between my morning sickness and my ever growing love for my family- I think I am beginning to overcome my paranoia.

Last night Pete woke up at 2:00 am as sick as a dog. I’ve never seen him so sick. I still don’t know if he has the 24 hour bug or food poising but he was up all night barfing his guts out. And guess what I did? I got him a glass of water, took his barf bag out to the trash, tickled his back, and took care of him all night long.

I was so proud of myself and I can truly say it wasn’t even that bad. I feel like I am one step closer to being prepared to be a mother! Hurray! I wasn’t necessarily scrubbing anything nasty out of carpet or seat cracks but I’m realizing that I’m capable of improving. So there ya go! Most random post ever…. barf paranoia improving….
