New Years

Adaliah woke up the Saturday before New Years with a bad case of pink eye- and it continued to get worse.
By New Years Eve she had a fever, cough, runny nose, and her eyes were practically swollen shut. Pete and I started feeling the flu bug come on too..needles to say, we stayed in this New Years Eve. This is the 2nd year in a room we've started the year with some crazy virus.

But we still had a great time- as us Ackermans always do :). We celebrated the new year at about 7:30 pm. Adaliah loved the horns and an excuse to bang pans together.

Happy New Years!!

Year in Review

Elizabeth is 5 months

Elizabeth- 5 mths

This little girl is the happiest little princess in the world.  I seriously can't say enough times how lucky we are. She sleeps well, entertains herself with toys, and always has a smile on her face. She has us all wrapped around her little finger.
A few things about Elizabeth

1- She's sitting up like a champ now.

2- She is SO CURIOUS. She's trying to grab everything that is remotely close to her. She has figured a few ways to get around, she'll either roll around the room or when she is laying on her belly she'll scoot herself around in a circle or forward a few feet. Is that crazy for 5 mths?

3- She loves to take a nap at like 7 pm, which prevents her from going to sleep until around 11 pm. We couldn't take the long nights any more so we decided we would try ANYTHING to try to keep her from taking a nap after 5. This was easier said then done.

4- We still swaddle her up tight when she sleeps but somehow she manages to roll.  We find her as a little swaddled tummy sleeper every morning.

5- She loves blowing raspberries and still has a high pitched squeal when she's happy or upset. It cracks us up.

6- Elizabeth always makes loud smacking noises when we eat our food, and trys to grab it out of our hands. So she got some baby food in her Christmas stocking and had her first try on Christmas day. She LOVED IT. She at the entire bowl the first time.

Last Memory- I picked Elizabeth up with a pen in my mouth. Do not try this. I am SO LUCKY I missed her eye ball. I felt like the worst mom in the world.

Christmas

This year the Armstrong Christmas celebration was at our house the Friday before Christmas

We acted out the Christmas nativity...

..then dinner and presents.

Christmas Eve we spent at the Ackermans

Christmas Nativity round 2:

Pop read Adaliah and Zizzy "The night before Christmas" before we left for home.

Christmas Morning didn't disappoint for us girls.  Adaliah got her doll house and dress ups and was sufficiently excited and gracious for her new toys.

Pete on the other hand- did not have such a great Christmas. He woke up with a horrible stomach bug. He laid on the couch as long as he could but then moved into the bedroom where he stayed the rest of Christmas day. I felt so bad for him.

Because Pete was sick, we decided to spend most of the day just hanging out at home. We spent the entire day opening presents. Adaliah would open a present and stop to play with it for 20- 30 mins before she was ready to open another one.  She pulled out a new package of princess panties, and insisted she try on every single pair and come out and show me one at a time. She cracks me up.

It was a wonderful Christmas. We are blessed. We are truly blessed.

December

December Highlights:

I love December. I love the Christmas spirit that fills the air. I love all the parties and excuses to get together with friends and family.
This year I really tried to get Adaliah excited that we get to celebrate the Saviors birthday. We had lots of great lessons and teaching moments throughout the month on the Savior and how we can be more like him. As Christmas came closer Adaliah started getting excited. One morning she started running around the house yelling "Jesus is coming!! I can't wait"
I realized she was still getting confused on who exactly was coming down the chimney, and who's birthday it was.  It is confusing! It's Christs birthday.....so why does some other jolly man come to my house and leave me presents?

I love this picture- Adaliah and Lily peeking at the nativity.

Other fun December moments:

Festival of trees

Ward Christmas Party

Warm nights in- snuggling with my family

Trying out the front runner to down town Salt Lake. We went to temple square and to the planetarium.

Making Ginger bread houses with friends

Neighborhood Girls night: Wrapping presents and some Just Dance on the Wii

November

Highlights:
Brandy's birthday party:

BYU basketball game

This November I really wanted to try to teach Adaliah the importance of being thankful. Every day I would have her think of something she was thankful for and we would write it on a leaf and put it on her thankful tree.

A few of my favorite things Adaliah came up with:
Elizabeth's smile
Her friends- she wanted to draw a picture on the leaf of every one of her friends and cousins
Nursery Teachers

She really does LOVE nursery and her nursery teachers so we made them these turkeys and delivered them to their homes. Adaliah was so excited to give them a gift and say "Thanks for being my teacher!"

Light parade

Adaliah was so brave this year on Santa's lap. She told him she wanted dress ups and a doll house.
